Listed here are some super-delicious almond pancake toppings of mine:
Butter
This is usually 1st on my list due to the fact its crucial to everything else. None of your toppings will taste to their total potential without having a liberal a small hunk of butter all over your almond pancakes. As my mom would always say: "Butter tends to make almost everything taste much better!"
Almond Butter
Just like peanut butter - almond butter is only pulverized nuts. It's very best to not buy the brands with additives. It is odd that you have to lay out for the far more expensive brands to avoid additives like sugar, guar gum etc. All you need is old-fashioned crushed up almonds, maybe with a bit of added salt.
It could seem to be weird to top almond pancakes with almond butter - as well as weirder if you substitute cow's milk with almond milk within the actual pancake recipe as I always do. But because the pale/primal diet program is what brought me to almond-based meals in the first place , its an all-natural topping for me. And due to the fact peanuts do not fit using the primal/paleo diet, I do not advise peanut butter as a topping - despite the fact that it will not kill ya
Honey
Honey is pure sugar - correct. But unlike that more well-known topping - maple syrup - honey has a lot of wellness benefits in the event you consume the raw sort.
Raw honey - the sort that's unheated, unfiltered and un-everything - is so amazingly healthful that raw manuka flower honey - by far the most potent variety from New Zealand - has killed MRSA bacteria in scientific tests. Its because of the anti-bacterial properties of particular forms of pollen within the honey.
Anyway - honey would be the way to go for a sweet and comparatively healthful almond pancake topping.
Fruit
On the subject of fruit and almond pancakes (or any form of pancakes) - fresh is truly not much better. Frozen fruit - specifically berries - are truly better simply because when thawed the juices ooze out of them and soak the pancakes. Fresh cut strawberries or peaches as an example - just do not have the goopy, gooey consistency that make a superb almond pancake topping.
So try this:
- Thaw a handful of frozen mixed berries in the zapper
- Drop the berries and juice all on top of your almond pancakes
- If that ain't sweet enough, swirl some honey on top, too
Chocolate sauce - or melting hunks of chocolate - is totally yummy but not for just anyone considering that it makes for a really thick, goopy pancake. If you'd like the antioxidant and low-glycemic benefits then stick with dark or semi-sweet chocolate, not milk chocolate.
Good Old Syrup
I don't need to explain this one do I? Just be sure to pre-top the pancakes with lots of butter!
